Levi was born at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter on April 1, 2001. We originally went to the Shelter in July to adopt an adult dog. We really liked the male malamute, Macadamia, but he and Otto did not get along—they wanted to tear each others' throats out. The behaviorist at the Shelter suggested we get a puppy, and introduced us to Levi, a three month old brindled German Shepherd puppy. He was isolated because he was recently neutered at the Cheyenne Pet Clinic. Otto and Jasmine got along with him. He was just a wiggly little boy.

...and Scott wonders why Levi still climbs on his chest.
Levi graduated from beginning obedience in October 2001. He is smart and stubborn, and will do what he wants when he wants to do it. During this month, he had a growth on his left shoulder that he would scratch at until it bled. We took him to our GP vet, who thought it was a mast cell tumor, and recommended removal with wide margins. Not convinced this was the best route, we went to our current GP vet, who said, well, maybe, get it removed anyways. So we did. And so began the month long saga of trying to keep a 6 month old wiggle dog from pulling out his sutures.
